I would appreciate confirmation on this case. “Carrie” is a 9Yo overweight golden retriever. Presented for COHAT. Moderate to heavy tartar on all teeth, esp upper PM4s. As you can see, occlusal surface of both teeth are worn with dentin exposure (pics are after cleaning). Pockets around both teeth did not exceed 2 mm, mild gingivitis, I could not probe into pulp cavity on either tooth, and there were no indications of pain on awake (or anesthetized) oral exam. However I feel BOTH PM4s have periapical lucencies and generalized alveolar bone loss. I took views with both the size 4 plate (didn't like the positioning or detail) and the size 2. I don't want to extract these important tooth without assurance it is necessary, so I'm asking for your opinion. thanks
