I just wanted to share.. Proud of myself 🙂 Bad pics sorry. Dr. Beckman posted a video on Monday regarding simple extractions and discussed “pulling teeth with your fingers, then the real work begins”….here's my dental yesterday. I realized a few things during this (almost 3 hr) dental. 1. Dont be afraid to debride!!! it acually can make closure easier! Loosened up tissue and made it more moveable. 2. make good flaps, even when tempted to make none. 3. BAER warmer!!! 4. Good sharp instruments are paramount!!
Dr. Beckman, Thanks for all your training. I'm due to rewatch your webinars, I'm sure I will pick up all sorts of valuable info I missed the first (2) times through.
I love this forum…I'm learning alot, and it makes me more confident going at these alone.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this dog does…I've been seeing him since 2010, and every exam has NEEDS DENTAL BAD highlighted…the owners ignored me (finances) until this week when he stopped eating, reverse sneezing, and upper respiratory obstructive breathing, and they were faced with dental or PTS. I never confirmed the oronasal fistulas, but I'm pretty sure there were several. Next time I'll debride even more.
