Veterinary Dentistry Dental Cases

Hi all!

Hi all! This is a follow up to a post I put up a couple weeks ago regarding a 7-8 yo Aussie with a history severe tooth resorption; I posted her rads from 6 mo ago. The general consensus was when I re-evaluated her (which was to be in a couple weeks) to leave everything be as long as resorption had not dramatically progressed. While I was on vacation she presented to one of my colleagues for left mandibular fracture. The owner heard her cry out and came into the room to see blood all over Kira's mouth and on the floor. No known or possible trauma per owner. Below are the rads. Sorry, the most relevant ones are posted at the end. I downloaded them first, but I guess they post in reverse….the post extraction rad is near the end too.

The doctor who worked with her extracted 304 uneventfully, fully intact. She does not have any teeth to attach to stabilize her jaw by wiring, so a tape muzzle was placed. Kira is actually doing quite well now.

Any thoughts on how/why this happened?
