Veterinary Dentistry Dental Cases

Dear Colleagues

Dear Colleagues,

The attached images are from a 5-year-old Labrador retriever bitch that I treated on Monday. As you can see she had caries lesions affecting teeth 310 and 410. In addition, she had a caries lesion on tooth 110. Tooth 310 was surgically extracted, and the vestigial roots extracted by gentle elevation.

The other teeth that are usually affected – 309 and 409 – are so far in good condition.

Are there any treatments such as fluoride that members routinely recommend for this condition, and do members think that there are particular foods that contribute to the disease?

I look forward to reading your insights.

Best wishes,

David
