Dear Colleagues,

Toy breeds of dogs invariably develop periodontal disease at a relatively early age. Does anyone give special advice to owners of these breeds, and/or extract teeth sooner to avoid the inevitable progression of the disease?

I usually find that these dogs have temperaments that make toothbrushing a scary prospect!
