Mandibulectomy In a Dog for Acanthomatous Ameloblastoma – Pain Evaluation 24 Hours Post-op

This is Jonesey, a 7 year old Boston Terrier that was diagnosed with an acanthomatous ameloblastoma.  Excision of the bone associated with all of the mandibular incisors caudal on the left side to the first molar.  Preop and preop radiograph and immediate postop pictures are shown here.

    How do you prevent the remaining lower canine from shifting and causing pressure on the soft palate in non brachycephalic patients.

      Hi Sandy,
      Many things have been attempted in the past with less than ideal results. If this is an issue then vital pulp therapy following crown reduction to the level of the incisors is indicated.
